Viruses are bad little messy buggers that we all don’t think about. I think they are some of those things that we find lodged in our body, things that we wish we didn’t have but we have anyway and now, there is not much we can do about it.

Oh yes, what a bad way to put it, but wait until you have Cytomegalovirus and then your doctor tells you that it is staying for good, and that it is transferrable through body fluids, yes, all body fluids including the you-know-what. Yeah, real bad, might affect your life in the sack badly, but don’t worry. It is treatable and so you will still have your oats.

Cytomegalovirus is really nasty, but what makes it nastier is that you never know that you have it, until it is advanced. This is a member of the herpes family. It is not restricted to one age group, anyone can contract it. However, two groups of people are at higher risk of catching the infection: the unborn babies whose mothers are affected during pregnancy and people who develop weakness in their immunity. Look at it from the angle of fishing. When you go fishing, there are many fish in the stream, but you do not catch all of them, do you? Whatever fish is too greedy for the bait ends up on the dinner table.

What to do when you have Cytomegalovirus? First, I would say accept that you have it. Denial will not make this little nasty idiot go away. If anything, it will only make it more stubborn. Secondly, seek treatment as soon as possible because by the time you notice you have the virus, it will have been sometime in your system. Look out for symptoms like headaches, fevers, muscle aches, enlarged spleen and liver. If you notice such things, you have reason to start getting very, very worried.

Can you Identify a false fact about this disease?
